Prelude 10 Page Remake– Sneak Peak!

Happy New Year 2012 everybody!

And so begins a new year here at Faythstudios.com. School has already began for me so I won’t be updating the site as often as I did during December. Still, I was able to post 105 updates on the site during 2011; that’s not too bad for 52 weeks!

This first update of 2012 brings you a Sneak Peak into what I am  currently working on: Colouring the rest of ‘Prelude’ Part 10! I will be posting a nice update with the first few pages of that chapter soon. In the meantime, take a look at poor Black Bobby HERE who is having a really bad day… in full colour! The title for this post says ‘Page Remake’ and although it is mostly colouring, I will be replacing some of the panels on those earlier pages of chapter 10 that I am not happy with.

Speaking of Remakes, I still have to finish the last page of the Beloved Terrorist Scene from ‘Prelude’ Chapter 3, and add colours to the Cover of Prelude 11. All that will get done soon as I get a chance.

Prelude 11 Cover in Inks– Complete & Final 2011 Post

HERE is the completed Cover in Inks for Prelude 11 (Vol. 2 Pt 2).

And this brings us to the end of another year. I will keep this short: wishing everyone a great 2012. God sure knows I could use a better year than this one that is ending tonight. ‘Till Next Time.

Prelude 11 Cover– Sneak Peak!

HERE is a Sneak Peak at the Cover of Prelude 11! My penultimate post of 2011. I will be posting the finished cover in Inks before the year is over.

Too Many Shawls (Apparently!)

A while back I posted a remake of Pages 1 to 5 of Prelude Part 4 on the site and shared them with my buddy Alex Veljko (Creator of Leonid.) Always the jokester, he asked me why there were some many shawls on Page 2 of the update (Seen HERE.) I told him those were Zig-Zag lines which I love to draw, it’s a technique that Mike Mignola uses often on his work and  no one seems to mind it when he does it. They do add more time to each page, but they are a lot of fun to draw. Anyway, he sent me an email and said to me to take a closer look at the page. He was kind enough to point out all the shawls on the page HERE.

Sneak Peak of ‘Prelude’ Vol. 2, Pt1, Page 3

HERE is a Sneak Peak of a remake page that will be coming to the site soon; it’s Page 3 of Prelude 10 (Vol 2, Pt 1.) This has got to be the worst drawing ever of an ambulance I have ever done, and it has been bothering me for a very long time. I also like that you can see the other SWAT laying on the ground on the new page so it makes sense why the one calling for help can’t just carry one guy away. Here is hoping for a new year where I will be able to make more pages of ‘Prelude’ both old and new; a year free of cardboard ambulances! Speaking of newer Prelude pages, I have already began work on Prelude 11 (Vol. 2, Pt 2;) and I will have a sneak peak of that before the year is up.

I know most of you are not checking the site during the holidays, I am sure wherever you are you are probably having a great time and that is cool. The thing is I have been so busy with Teacher’s College this past year that if I don’t update the site now that I have some time off, I won’t get to do it once school starts again. So enjoy all the updates once you get back from wherever you might be during the holidays.

Anybody wants to be a Cop?

Ok so THIS one is great for sure. I love the guy that sounds like Chewaka (Number Six!). Then there’s the black dude that didn’t make a sound; that was pretty bad ass (He’s number four and the other guys are clapping at him for being so bad ass.) In retrospect, I would probably squeal like a pig too if they taser me like that.

Snippet of Things to Come– Complete!

HERE is the finished version of the drawing I showed a couple days ago. You can view it grey toned and finished on My Deviant page. Enjoy!

Great Stress Release Technique!

THIS is a great video to watch if you, like me, grew up with Street Fighter II. Also great if you want to find out a great technique to release stress. How do you release stress? Send me a comment and let me know.

MTV Mignola Interview!

MTV posted a great interview with Mike Mignola. HERE is it in case you didn’t know about it. As most of you know, I love Mignola’s work so this was a pleasure to watch. It’s also an opportunity to learn more about me since Mignola’s work has influenced my own so much. The interview is about 8 short parts. You can watch them on the MTV site.

A Snippet of Things to Come!

Christmas is just around the corner, and here I am trying to play catch up with the year. Take a look at THIS sneak peak of one of the things I have planned for next year. There will be more stuff before the year is over but I should really take a break soon.

Here is to Never Growing Up!

Here is to those of you who (like me) are in your early 30s, married, and still wish Optimus Prime was real. I only wish they would have used the Optimus from the TV show, not the awful version from the crappy films. Still, it’s a great video. Thumbs up to James Struthers and this great music vid. You know it’s good when my non-geeky wife likes it.

‘Spider-man’ Vacuum Gloves!

HERE is another great Geeky thing for those of you that like Science and Spider-man. Make sure you watch both parts, it’s really cool.

First Autograph Request!

I had the sweetest thing happened to me yesterday. It was my last day in teacher’s college for this year at my placement school in Toronto. When you are in teacher’s college you spend some time at the University learning theory, and some time in a placement school putting into practice what you are learning in University. Yesterday was my last day in my intermediate level placement placement school so I had to say goodbye to my students after teaching them language and visual arts for the entire semester.

I decided to give one of my students (who is an avid history aficionado) one of my old World War II books because although I enjoyed the book a lot when I read it ten years ago, I figured it was time to find a new home for it. So first thing I did in the morning when I got to the school was to give the book to my student; then I went on to prepare my lesson for the day. About ten minutes later, he came back with the book and asked me if I would be willing to autograph the book for him because, he said, the day I become a famous graphic novelist, he will love to have the book and tell everyone that he knew me. I was so touched! It was the first time anyone has ever asked me for an autograph because of my comics. So HERE is an image of what I wrote on his book.

Beloved Terrorrist Scene Remake– Page 2!

The second page of the Beloved Terrorrist Scene is up. You can read it HERE. Only one more page to go and the Scene is complete.

Topless Robots! Can’t Beat That!

HERE is another great site I came across. For those of you who are nerds at heart, check out Topless Robot. It’s full of all those nerdy great facts of life that we all love. One article that I really enjoyed was THIS Article about the 8 Coolest Cyborgs of all time. I specially loved the The Six Million Dollar Man clip (HERE), which was hilarious; I remember watching this when I was Four! (For those of you who have no idea what he is doing, he is supposed to be moving at super speed, but because in the 70s there were no special effects, they keep the whole clip in, err.. bullet time.) I also loved that Jeri Ryan (whom I met while working at North 44) made it into the list. She sure enhance my enjoyment of watching Star Trek. And, since you can never have enough Jeri Ryan, HERE she is again… and HERE …and HERE …and–
