It is not really characteristic of all humans to readily embrace any kind of drastic change in their lives. The prospect of change raises the potential for failure and the greater the change, the greater the fall from those ambitious heights. But if we are to settle into complacency in our modes of thinking and doing, we run the risk of never knowing how fully we were able to succeed. Artists are no different in this sense.  Their limitations, achievements and aspirations show up in their work and live a life all their own complete with failure and success.

That is how I feel about 'Prelude'. I must admit I have a selfish reason to like it as well. Mainly because it is different than all of Geovanni’s works yet it succeeds nonetheless. When I first met Geo, I quickly became aware of his Decapolis/ Fayth Saga, which he had labored on for much of his life. This work was as detailed a roadmap of a person expressed in pictures as any Perly’s guide could hope to be. It was not long before I too was swimming in the sheer quantity of the work. We had talked on about art on numerous occasions and the idea of doing something darker and moodier was floated around and entertained, but I knew Fayth was what he was wrapped up in. Nevertheless, I was always in the wings hoping that something earthier, seedier and fresh would come about. I felt it was necessary. Geo did not disappoint.

'Prelude' is a blood-soaked, foul-mouthed black-and white middle finger with a heart of gold and I love it. It shows us a world we see around us with characters believing and living some, but not all of the things Geo has showed us initiated readers in the past.

For those of you who don’t know who I am, I make films and music. I have contribute stories, namely, ‘A Theory of a Sunset’ and ‘A Man is Born’, to Fayth’s World. Writing has always been something I love to do alongside music and film and I was happy that Geo thought my work was good enough for my cyber-family whom I’ve never met. I’m currently directing, writing and producing short films and I dabble in cinematography, if nothing than to help my own films and projects of friends and acquaintances.

The world could always use more artists and more stories too.

Geo has long supported me in my music and filmmaking and I must say his perseverance is inspiring to be a part of and to support in my own way as well. This introduction was a long time in the coming and for that I have to apologize to my friend Geo while at the same time I can’t help but feel, ironically, this latest creation ‘Fayth: Prelude to Bathory’ is in itself a story that was a long time in the making.

But I have to say it was worth the wait.

I’m waiting on the Pig-Men now…
