Read The Stories HERE

And that's it for now, folks! Take a look around at the new pages, drop me a line if you are enjoying the work and I will be updating again soon!

Here is to a Great New Year!

January 11th, 2010, THE NEW YEAR BEGINS.

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. So, let's get started with 2010.

FAYTH: THE LADY & THE TANK

By far the biggest announcement this new year is the return of Fayth 7 Tales, at least one of the stories that makes up that collection. You see, back in the days before the website, I used to print my comics at the Office Depot and once I had enough issues for a whole book, I would bind them by hand (I took a Book Binding course in University) and the final result was something like THIS. Not bad, right? Book Binding is cool. Takes a lot of patience but the end result can be pretty neat.

Anyway, those stories were good, but back in the day, both the art and writing were lacking. So when it came to deciding if they would go on the site, I was not comfortable with that because in the end they are a misrepresentation of what I am really capable of nowadays, as both a writer and an illustrator.

This led me to another annoyance, the fact that when you look at all my stories on the site right now, there are more stories without Fayth than with Fayth. So this new story (which is technically not so new) is a turn in the right direction for me, the site and the readers. It has completely new art, better writing and definitely brings more depth to Fayth's character as we find out more about him and his relationship with Joyce (who showed up at the beginning of Fayth: Golem Pt 1).

'Fayth-The Lady & The Tank' is the first story from the '7 Tales' collection. At the same time, I am planning to get back to work on 'Prelude to Bathory' (more on that below), so I am not planning on re-releasing all the stories from '7 Tales' right now, but at least I will start with the first one. All the '7 Tales' were done as short self-contained stories and I plan on keeping them that way. The story, considering the amount of detail and care I am giving each page, will update every two weeks if all goes according to plan. You can read the first page of 'Fayth-The Lady & The Tank' HERE.

I know that one page every 2 weeks is not as often as both you and I would like to have updates for a story, but keep in mind that I am also working on both Great Power (which is nearing the end of its second chapter (56 pgs total when it does); and also getting back on track with 'Prelude' -both the remake of Pt 2 and Part 10- So, I think a new page biweekly for 'The Lady & The Tank' will be OK.

So to clarify, both 'Prelude' and 'Great Power' will be updated as often as possible; it is only 'The Lady & The Tank' that will update every 2 weeks. Which brings us to my next topic...

Fayth: Prelude to Bathory

Oh man, I was going over some of the pages from Part 2 (which, I am working on a remake for because the the current version is not what I ideally want on the site). Anyway, I came across one of the pages from those days and I realized that I had signed it as 'Geo 2005'. That was a real eye opener! I can't believe that I have been working on this story for 5 years now. That is insane! By far the last thing I thought when I started this story was that it was going to take as long as it has and that -the story- itself would go so far.

So, what's new on the 'Prelude' 'front'? Well, first of all the Part 2 Remake is almost complete. Just need to shuffle a couple panels and draw a few more pages. (about 7 more I think) and afterward I should be able to put it up. But my plan is to alternate between the pages from Pts 2 & 10 as I work my way through it; Pt 10 being the latest one, as you know.

So let's start the year with a New Page for 'Prelude to Bathory'. You can read Part 10, PAGE 8 HERE.

Gaiden & Match: Great Power

Also up now is Page 14 of Great Power Part 2. You can read the new page HERE. Eleonora has been doing a great job catching up with her pages recently which makes me really happy. This means that as long as we have a good page buffer with Great Power, I should be able to do yet another 10 page short story I have in mind which will be drawn by Eleonora and myself. More about this later on.

...And so...

On a final note, I have also worked really hard on the site, trying to fine tune it here and there. You will notice among some of the little things I have done to improve the site is that I am adding a 'Next page' button (see below) as you read the stories. Not all the stories or chapters of a story has this feature yet, but I will be adding it to every story in time.

January 17th, 2010- SO FAR SO GOOD...

I figured since I talked so much on my last update, I would keep this one short and sweet.

Fayth: Prelude to Bathory

So far so good as far as 'Prelude' and 'Great Power' are concerned. My goal is to do two 'Prelude' pages per week. One for Part 10 and one for Part 2. This week I was able to barely pull it off but I did it. I hope to have that remake of Part 2 up in a few weeks. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the latest page from 'Prelude' Part 10 HERE.

Gaiden & Match: Great Power

Eleonora has been working really hard tryng to finish Part 2 of 'Great Power'. You can read the latest page HERE.

And that's it for this week. Come back next weekend for more pages.

January 19th, 2010- SNEAK PEAK

HERE is a sneak peak at the upcoming Page 10 from 'Prelude to Bathory', Part 10. The new page should be up on Sunday.

Enjoy the sneak peak. :)

January 24th, 2010- Three New Pages, panel touch ups and the COMING OF THE KITTY BRATS!

This week was quite a success here at Faythstudios. Not only was I able to get the next page for 'Prelude' ready on time as well as the one for 'Great Power'; but I was also able to go back to some of the earlier pages that I had uploaded previously throught the stories and replace 5 panels that were really bothering me. Be it that I had originally rushed them; or the contrast and lighting on them was not rendered properly or it just simply 'didn't look right to me'; I was very happy to go and replace them with new art. I really won't go into details as to which panels were redone but I am happy to say I plan on doing this in an ongoing basis. After all, it is my desire to have the best work possible on the site not just for all of you, but also for myself. That is why I am still working on the new version of 'Prelude' part 2 as well as the remake of 'The Lady & The Tank'.

Also big news over here at Faythstudios, you probably noticed the new link at the top of the page for THE KITTY BRATS teaser.

So what exactly are the KITTY BRATS? Simple, they are my cats. And in the year or two that I have had these cats, they have done all these little anecdotes that have made me and my wife laugh so much that I thought I should have a website with a comic strip for it. And since we over pampered the cats, I figured there could be no better name for them than what we call them on a daily basis -the kitty BRATS!

So if you are a kitty lover or know someone who is, please spread the word about the KITTY BRATS. Since the art style, albeit perfect for the comic strip, is a lot more simple than what you guys are used to seeing here on Fayth- The Saga, I have no doubt it won't slow me down with my pages for Fayth.

Oh and about those pages, here they are now:

Fayth: Prelude to Bathory

'Prelude' Part 10, Page 10 can be seen HERE.

FAYTH: THE LADY & THE TANK

Page Two of 'Fayth-The Lady & The Tank' is HERE.

Gaiden & Match: Great Power

And lastly, 'Great Power, Page 16 can be found HERE.

And that's it! It's been a crazy week and I expect the new one to be just as crazy.

Check back soon for a new Sneak Peak for 'Prelude' Page 11.

Til next time,

Cheers everybody.

January 28th, 2010- Sneak Peak & News

Well, unlike last week, this week is turning out to be a bit stressing for me. The next page for 'Great Power' will be up on Sunday as usual; however Page 11 of 'Prelude' will have to wait until next weekend. I just wasn't able to work out all the things I had on my plate this week. Also this is a short week for me given the fact that, in the spirit of GREAT POWER; for the first time in my life I will be going ICE FISHING this weekend. For Mike Johanis' sake -who besides me and Sean is still Single-, I sure hope the trip turns out to be something like THIS.

In the mean time, HERE is a sneak peak at the evasive Page 11 of Prelude.

See you all on Sunday.

February 9th, 2010- Great Power- 1 New Page

Wow, it's hard to believe a whole month has gone by in the new year already.

So for those of you who were wondering how my ice fishing trip went this past weekend let me tell you that it was bitterly cold! -25 Celcious! (That's -13 Fahrenheit) I Went Ice fishing with Mike (Gaiden) Johanis and his brother Sean (Oscuridad) and I must say even with the cold and not catching anything myself (Mike true to the story 'Great Power' caught 12 fish and Sean only 3) I still had lots of fun. In fact I look forward to doing it again sometime soon. Oh and before you think I have gone mental, Mike and Sean are real people. Their characters in the comics are based after their real life counter parts :)

Ok, now let's get down to business. The New Page for this week.

Gaiden & Match: Great Power

'Great Power;, Page 17 can be found HERE.

As I mentioned earlier, I had some problems last week and that pretty much kept me from finishing the next page for 'Prelude'. So we will have to wait a few more days to see the next page. Speaking of which, I better get to it now.

February 9th, 2010- Great Power- PAGE 18!

Hi Everyone, just a short update this week with a New Page for 'Great Power'. Had an incredibly busy past week studying really hard for a job interview so not much time at the desk drawing.

Gaiden & Match: Great Power

'Great Power', Page 18 can be found HERE. I can't believe we are up to Page 18 of Part 2 already. This is more or less the midpoint of the story. Hopefully by now you are really enjoying what's happening with Mike & Paul.

Ok, back to work.

February 21st, 2010- Great Power- TWO NEW PAGES

Gaiden & Match: Great Power

Since I wasn't able to update the website last week, this week I am uploading 2 new pages for 'Great Power'. Pages 19 and 20 can be found HERE.

Page 21 should be up on time next weekend.

March, 2010

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to drop you guys a note to let you all know what's going on right now with the comic.

First of all I wanted to apologize for not updating the site. This year had started as such a good year with weekly updates for 'Prelude' and 'Great Power' as well as 'Lady & The Tank' (I actually spent a few days during early January drawing the first 5 pages of 'Lady & The Tank' to give myself a nice buffer of pages for that story) I was quite excited about not only constantly updating the current storylines but also having a new one for you all.

But, oh how quickly things can change. My move back from Taiwan to Toronto has gone ok but by no means has it been great. Things are hard right now for me and my family. Really hard.

I am also training for a new job posibility that I am very excited about. I rather not say what it is right now in case it doesn't work out; however, if it were to work out I would be able to make a living off that new job and have plenty of time and resources to work on the comics.

But that is a big 'if' and until then things continue to be difficult.

And so without any further delay I want you all to know this will be the last update to the site. I think after 5 years it is pretty clear to me that things haven't worked out as much as I thought they would.

I am at a point in my life where I have no desire to even look at paper much less draw. And since I don't have the resources to pay someone to pencil my pages I don't see how the stories are going to get done. You know, I never even got a single donation from any of the visitors to the site, but I do want to thank the 3 or 4 people that actually took the time to drop me a line and to thank me for the comic. I saved your emails, guys (and gals) and they are very precious to me. Thanks again.

I plan on continuing updating Great Power and finishing that story. It's the least I can do since I can't seem to finish 'Prelude'. However there will be no updates or RSS feeds about the new pages, you guys will have to come take a look yourselves.

Well, that's it, then.

I need to get away from all this which I love so much and which breaks my heart not to be able to update as much as I truly wish I could.

Until next time if there is a next time.

Gaiden & Match: Great Power

Page 21 of Great Power Part 2 is up. You can read it HERE. Working on the rest of the pages for Part 2. I have grey toned a few of them already. I will be posting them (probably all at once) in a couple weeks or so.

Still on hiatus; trying to figure out a lot of stuff in my life right now.

May 16th , 2010- Gaiden & Match: Great Power Part 2 now complete!

I have uploaded the last 7 pages of Great Power Part 2. The second part is now complete! You can read it, starting with page 22, HERE.

Even though I have been occupied with many other things in my life, I was able to greytone and letter the lastest pages from artist Eleonora for Part 2 of Great Power.

These days I am able to work on the comics a little bit at the time. But I think updating the comic once (or twice!) a week is out of the question for the time being. These (total of) 8 pages in the last few days should make up for about 2 months of no updates here at fayththesaga. I am also very happy that you can all see these two completed parts of Great Power. As you can tell, it got to the really fun part of the story. If you think Part 2 was fun, wait until you see all that Mike has to do to in Part 3 not just to stay alive, but also to stop the old man and save Paul at the same time. Also, the mistery the LING & the old man is revealed at last!

I am hoping the final part of Great Power won't take as long to complete but we shall see. In the meantime I will try to keep myself busy and before you know it, I might have a new update for all of you.

May 26th , 2010

FAYTH: THE LADY & THE TANK

Page 3 of 'Fayth-The Lady & The Tank' can be found HERE.

Also the covers for Parts 1 & 2 for Great Power (as well as Golem Part 1) have been updated. For Golem Pt1 and Great Power Pt1, I actually fixed a couple things in the artwork that was bothering me, re-colored the images and added Text. (This of course took me the whole day!)

June 6th , 2010- News Update

A few things going on over here.

First of all Eleonora has now pencilled the first 5 pages of Gaiden & Match: Great Power Part 3. So expect new pages for that story coming soon.

Also, I have began working on an Art Book of all my work since I was a child. Next year I will be 33 and I thought '33' would be a great name for an art book where one could look back and see how far one has come from. If all goes to plan the book will be available for purchase via blurb.com. Don't worry, I don't expect anyone to buy it since I am going all out on the paper quality and size of it. As far as my art, I never feel like I do it anymore for myself. Well, this book will be for me. I will keep you all up to date with the book's progress. I will have a section on the site where you will be able to sample it as well.

Lastly, I have uploaded a video I did a couple years back when I was teaching Art in Taiwan to high schoolers. The Video is called 'Ink Worsk' because I was trying to teach my students how to Ink a drawing, where to place a light shource and how an element reacted to that light source in the drawing (I drew the sun in the video for their sake, I don't draw suns in my pages to remind myself where the light is coming from).I have always been torn between how much of myself should I show on this website, because honestly, if I wanted to babble about myself, I would have a facebook page, but this site is not about me, it's about you coming to read and see my art. But whatever, I thought about it and I figured what the hell, I''ll upload this video. So without further delay here is 'Ink Works'. The video shows me Inking Fayth in high speed with music by the incredible Geinoh Yamashirogumi (Akira Film). I think you will enjoy it. If you do, or if you would like me to do another vid like this, let me know.

June 24th , 2010 THE END, THE BEGINNING

After much much MUCH consideration, I have decided it's time to let go of 'Fayth The Saga'.

I am working on a new script for a new book. The new story or new continuity, whatever you wish to call it, will take us back to the year one era of Fayth and his universe. It's a fresh start so things that are either shown or mentioned in the comics you have read might or might not be in the new story. After all why limit ourselves, right?

I tell ya, it's hard to believe for me. In the past few years I have gone from having my comics printed at the local office depot (just a couple copies for my close friends to read), to scanning and uploading some pages onto a free server, to eventually building a website and hosting my work.

So what about the unfinished stories like 'Prelude To Bathory'? and 'Great Power'? You will still be able to access those from here and from the new site. 'Great Power' will be completed as Eleonora is still working on that story. Before she joins me in 'the past' i plan on having her finish 'Great Power'. 'Prelude' is still close to my heart so I haven't given up on her yet. It's such a great story and I really want to finish it, but it will have to wait for now. (There's hope, Mike).

I am ending this 'Fayth The Saga' but truth be told, it's not really ending. It's starting. Properly. I am going back and I am retelling the story. From the very beginning. No baggage, and nothing to hinder me anymore. I started this 'continuity' so many years ago. And the truth of the matter is, you all got involved reading a comic on a website that I mostly did for my close friends; that was already started. I really wasn't expecting to get good enough to have people following me, emailing me and visiting the website every week. That was unexpected for sure.

The new site and new stories will be up soon. I look forward to introducing you properly to this universe the way I should have done so before.

On this day and age, I can't think of no better colloquialism to end this update but one:

brb :)
