About Revelation

Creating the definitive illustrated edition of the Book of Revelation.

John and the Four Horsemen -Homage to Albrecht Dürer, 1498

Revelation is an ambitious graphic-novel adaptation of the final book of the Bible, created with the goal of becoming the definitive illustrated edition of the Book of Revelation.

My purpose is not to simplify Revelation or modernize it beyond recognition. The aim is to present the text with reverence, clarity, visual power, and careful attention to every detail Scripture provides. Every page is designed to draw readers deeper into John's extraordinary vision while remaining faithful to the biblical account.

This is not an adaptation inspired by Revelation—it is an attempt to illustrate Revelation itself.

For nearly two thousand years, artists have attempted to portray the visions of Revelation. Every generation has necessarily interpreted the text through its own artistic style, culture, and understanding. This project embraces that same responsibility while pursuing a different goal: to communicate, as faithfully as possible, the words that John wrote. Every verse is being illustrated in sequence, preserving the complete narrative from beginning to end. Rather than selecting only the most dramatic scenes, this is a word-for-word graphic novel that illustrates every verse of Revelation in sequence, seeking to visualize the entire biblical text—something that, to my knowledge, has never before been attempted in this medium.

Every character, location, creature, judgment, symbol, garment, weapon, and architectural detail is being examined in its biblical, historical, and cultural context. Passages from Daniel, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Zechariah, the Gospels, and the rest of Scripture are carefully studied wherever they illuminate John's vision. The goal is not to explain away the mystery of Revelation, but to faithfully communicate what the text reveals while preserving its awe, terror, beauty, holiness, and majesty.

Above all, this work is intended to honour Jesus Christ. Revelation is not merely a book about the end of the world. It is the revelation of Jesus Christ: the risen King, the righteous Judge, the Lamb who was slain, and the Lord who will return to establish His kingdom.

This project also marks a deeply personal turning point in my life. For decades I have devoted myself to creating original worlds and stories, most notably the Decapolis universe. I continue to love those characters and hope to return to them one day. Yet this work feels different. It feels like the project I was born to create.

As both artist and storyteller, I am drawing from centuries of artistic tradition—from the engravings of Albrecht Dürer, to the visionary paintings of William Blake, the spiritual landscapes of Nicholas Roerich, the enigmatic chiaroscuro of Caravaggio, and many others—while striving to create something that is unmistakably its own.

This will be a long-term labour of faith, research, writing, design, and illustration—an attempt to present the Book of Revelation with a level of care, accuracy, and artistic ambition worthy of its subject.
